I have a '99 SRX 700 and I went through the clutches (primary & secondary). I found in the primary clutch, the weights need to be replaced. The clutch weights are 8DN10W/13.3 & 17.2. I have a good set that came out of a 2000, but the clutch weights are 8DN-20W/17.2 and 13.9. I installed these weights and put in a new stock primary spring. What should I do with the secondary? I have the stock secondary spring, which is red. I also have a new silver spring and a stock Helix, 47 deg.(both Yamaha) What would you suggest I use for the best trail set-up? What degree should I have the secondary setting on? (stock-60 deg.) :o|

if your happy with the set up from the 99 stick with it, there is more to just adding a helix and sec spring....You may want to change the entire kit in the 99srx to get the best performance out of the sled.

The 8dn-20 weights work awesome...great all around weight. Stock is a 3.6 gram inner with a 4.5 gram outer. Run stock secondary with 80 degree wrap. If sled overrevs over 8300 switch inner rivet to a 4.5 & maybe try a w-w-w primary spring.

Turk,

Over rev. above 8300? I though the factory spec. was 84-8500. Am I missing something?

On dyno sheets that i have seen, the srx's power peaks somewhere in between 8300 and 8400 rpm. I believe ignition timing is retarded soon after that causing a quick drop in power.

Thanks for the info, the set is a stock set from a 2000. Was told that it is a good trail set and thats what I'm looking for. I'm hoping to get it together soon, just waiting on the servo but should be getting that soon. Then I can fire it up and just add snow

The 98-99 700 SRX,s like 82-8300 rpm. The 00-02,s like to run at 84-8500 rpm.

Looks like I've been overreving, ...can't imagine why Yamaha suggests 8500 in the shop manual for the 98'.
