I have a 99 srx7 that smoked all the bulbs, simple right ? voltage regulator....nope, replaced both of the regulators above left foot and it still does the same thing. Anybody have any ideas ?? Thanks for any help. I am very frustrated ,,

voltage problems

check ground connections. the voltage regulator need a very good ground connection as a reference to regulate the the voltage, I can mail you a service manual if you pm me. But I think it will give you not much help. Check wires under the engine, often a problem.(damaged under engine) After that check the stator, a friend of mine have a company that rewound stators. But he says Yamaha stators is very rare to make problems,(he fixed one for me but the problem was in the wires) and normal a stator problem give you to low voltage and that will not break your bulbs. Be cool I think you will find a solution in this forum. Your Totallyamahafriends will help you to solve this problem.

Swede's right, The SRX's we're known to fry the wiring harness under the motor. The harness would break loose of the hold downs & rattle around until the wiring would short out.... Good luck on it.

check to make sure wiring harness didnt rub at your left foot where you plug cdi and other things

I had the motor out and checked harness first, then replaced voltage reg's, I'll check harness and grounds. Thanks for the help, I'll post what I find

Ok, checked the grounds all are good. Checked continuity from ground wire at the regulator to the frame and also to headlight, all good. The only thing out of spec. is the resistance on the lighting coil. It shows more than spec. which I would think should cause low voltage, Any other ideas ???? Help.... Thanks

Thanks Mr. Viper, Yea it idles at 17 volts and goes past 30 at a touch of the gas. I have never seen a stator overvoltage before but? Any more ideas ?

GOT IT!!! The blue wire from the voltage regulator to the harness must be broke somewhere. I ran another wire parallel to it into the harness under the handlebars and now it's fine. Thank for all you help TY guys.
