i was surfing around the net and have conclued that a 2000 srx is 50 lbs heavier than a sxr.does anyone know where this extra weight comes from?also i was looking because i want to get my son a new sled this year and have found a good deal on a 2000 sxr-1600 bucks with 2900 miles looks mint!any thoughts-do the sxr s ride any smoother than a srx?

I have a SRX 600 and my wife has a SXR 600. My guess would be the fact that the SRX has three pipes and the SXR only has one pipe, also you would have to take into consideration that the SRX has the three power valves and a servo motor and the SXR doesn't have any of that. I don't know if all that would add up to the weight difference or not. I would get him the SXR its a whole lot less maintence because there isn't any power valves to keep up and the suspension is better.

SX-r is way easier on fuel & takes regular vs premium. Clutching is way out but can be fixed for $5 worth of heavier clutch rivets. SX-r will ride way nicer.

I don't think it's the powervalves and servomotor themselves that weigh that much. The whole motor weighs more and is built differently to accomodate the powervalves.

I agree about the motor being made heavier to accomodate these things. I just didn't say it because I didn't feel like typing all that about the different engine blocks, thanks for doing it though.
