I have an 03 Viper ER, all stock with a 1.5" track. I think I might mess with the clutching a bit this year, though I'm new to it, and the only knowledge I have about clutching has come from reading on here. I've been looking around in the tech pages and I did a search but I'm not quite sure what to do or where to start. Basically I'm looking for something simple and cheap to run for ditchbanging, to maybe see if I can get a little more out of it. Does the 1.5" track have any effect on what I need for clutching? I found some stock Viper setups but wondered about my track. I read about the green spring and 53/43 helix setup but didn't like the mixed reviews on it. I don't really want to spend $200 on a heelclicker setup either. Is there anything I can do as far as working with the stock parts, like changing weight around...etc? :dunno:

If you dont want to invest any $$ then in some h/c's or other aftermarket weights your better off sticking to stock. The helix swap and rear secondary spring works well depending upon the type of riding you do, its a more of a field racing, groomed trail set up, its not a offtrail set up. If its used in the right application it works very well.
Some vipers if they make good power will need the rivets changed to a 4.5 combo to keep from over revving on topend, but added tip weight clamps the belt well on topend yielding better topspeed numbers. Theres also some clutching tips and such in FAQ section.

Thanks, that's the advice I was looking for. My viper is right where it should be on engagement and doesn't over rev at all. Top speed is not an issue, as my riding is mostly off trail. So weights would be the first step if I wanted to do something? Would you suggest the heel clickers or is there something else better to work with? I wasn't planning on putting any more $$ into the sled after the suspension work, but I might check it out if there are some decent gains to be had.
