I just got a 2000 SX700R for myself and now I'm looking at a 2000 Phazer 500 for my girlfriend. What do you guys think of this machine? Any suggestions?

picked up a 500 phazer for the wife too and its a great sled the ride is really good, with all the settings in the softest position. The hydraulic shocks are really smooth, I say go for it....CP

I have one for my wife. A 1.25 lug track is a major improvement. I also put on the tall windshield. Last year I added electric start and a pipe. Believe it or not she actually said she likes the pipe!! It is a little underpowered stock, so the extra HP helped her ride faster. It also improved fuel mileage. I changed all four shocks to XTC shocks because the stock ones are not re-buildable. She loves the sled.

I try every year to get her a new sled, but she still wants to keep this one. The downsides are:
Fuel mileage - Stock it gets about 9-10 when riding semi-hard. 11-12 riding easy.
Stock track - poor
Underpowered stock - Might not be a problem.

Basically if you ride at a good clip the sled has a little trouble keeping up and so then it starts to like fuel because you are in the throttle more. I'd say in general we ride a decent clip, but not real fast and I was unhappy that she was the first one needing fuel in our group. That is the biggest negative imo.

All in all it is a great ladies sled tho.

LOL yea... The other thing is that those Phazer's seem to bring quite a bit of money. There were pushing the 2K mark at haydays, and I have seen them go close to that on Ebay. For that price an XTC 5-600 would be a better choice imo. But again I should say my wife loves hers.. :)

Just so you know - with the XTC you will get the re-buildable shocks, H2O cooled motor, and likely electric start and reverse.... A little bit better fuel mileage, and a fair amount more performance.

We are looking for trail sleds, whats the difference between a SX700R and a SRX?
The SRX has triple pipes, the SX has single pipe.
Phazer 500s are nice sleds. Comfortable, reliable, durable, good gas milage and fairly quick too.

GreenMachine - What is your sledding experience? We could probably make better suggestions if we knew what you are coming off of...or if you are new to the sport..

I've ridden a few times but this is my first sled and she has no experience. I am happy with the SX700R for myself.

I think the Phazer is an excellent choice then. My wife had not ridden either when we bought it. (Not much anyway) It's the lighest sled you are going to find in that price range and it will get good gas mileage for a new rider. I was referencing the poor mileage when ridden hard. You won't have to worry about that for awhile if ever.

You will like the SXR.

Welcome to the site by the way!!!!

the sxr has better suspension then the srx, but the srx has a tripple pipe. Its called a tripple tripple. The sxr has a single pipe. In laymans terms the tripple tripple has more hp but the sxr has a better ride.
