We are going to re-palting the cylinders but we are not sure abute piston clearens.Piston and rings are OEM.Can some one help?

Hey what is the bore and stroke on the 643? I don't have my 73 and 74 brochures here where I'm at. My brother actually had a SR 643 in good shape that ran, but was missing the pipes so he sold it! So many times I could kick my own butt looking back! G.

If I remember right, yamaha made 2 size oem pistons for the 73. One was a just a tad bigger. I could check later.

Thank you toydoc, are this spec. for sr 643b (-73) or sr 643 (-72)

This is great info thanks for posting it. I wish I had it when my brother had that 72 SR 643. I'm still wondering though, what the bore and stroke are? G.

I can't seem to find any information about the potential of the 643 fans. So, can anyone tell me what the SR's made for power?

Cool, thanks. How many of these beasts were made? I saw a sign somewhere on a 72 that said, 1 of 6! Surely there was more than that made?! I recall standing in a garage about 15 plus years ago looking at a 72 that guy had for sale, cheap too, like a couple hundred bucks and it was all there and it ran. I had no place to put it and figured I really couldn't/didn't want to ride it, (bogies)so what good was it. I've never forgiven myself for walking away. G.

USSA required 100+ made inorder to race. I have a '73 sr292 in a '73 sr643 chassis that I race nearly every sunday!!
Best I ever heard for the '73 was 100 of each: 292;433;643 plus parts for another 20

Thanks Monty, so there's no way there could only be 6-1972 643's made.

Every Sunday?? lol, in season anyways. I have thought of building a track with refrigeration tubes embedded in it! Hell the arabs downhill ski indoors in the Dubai desert, maybe one day we can race sleds indoors like that too! EVERY Sunday!!! Best. G.

Cool! I've never seen an arena like that before! There is room, all the spectaters better bring their earplugs for the pipes!!! Yippee!

I'm actually looking at some property here on the shore of a nice little lake.....been having some daydreams about that too!

Did I mention that I love your avatar Monty? If you still have my e-mail address I'd love a full size shot of that. Makes me dream of my 83! If I dig enough, I might even be able to swap you for one!? G.

Really? I thought you Canucks were all about hockey. HMMMM
I played hockey from age 5 straight thru 33. I finally had to give up 6 years ago due to injury. Playing Goalie for 19 years takes it out on a guy.

PM me your email addy again and I'll send you some nice pics of me racing that 540 this winter

Monty

Hey guys I am actually restauring a 72 SR 643 and according to Clay Strout there is only 4 known to be found as of his latest registry.

I was looking for info on a registry, is it far all SR's? Or just the 72 643? Got any pics to post? I love pics of the 72's. I have some that I have collected on the net you might be interested in seeing. G.
