What's your question?
I worked for a FORD dealer from 1985-1990....

whats the realationship between cam design and engine vacuum, rules state i have to have 17lbs vacuum at 800 rpm, stock heads, no porting, max cubic inch of 368.
I know most of the guys are ported, but if no one protests, no one will ever know. I know a few guys are running angle cut heads, and most of the ford guys are running a 351w. I'm looking for about 7000 rpm, track is 175 ft long, oh and its mud drags.

The overlap between the intake and exhaust lobes along with opening height and timing has the greatest inpact on manifold vacuum. And I suspect the spec is 17" of mercury (Hg). Porting will have little impact on manifold vacuum but is easier to detect than cam specs. Sounds like they're using manifold vacuum to determine whether you're running a relatively stock cam profile. Ignition timing will also affect manifold vacuum and you could use it to dial in maximum manifold vacuum if your an inch too low.
How do they determine CID? Do they pump a couple cylinders? Are you regulated to a stock stroke?

Yes they pump the cylinders , here are the engine rules off there web site, seems to me I,m very limited on what i can do, alot of these guys are running pretty good motors, turning 7000 rpm, most have there idle set at 1000 rpm. Gasoline only ~ No strokers allowed.
No blowers, alcohol or nitrous allowed. Specialty race fuels are allowed.
Must be factory OEM rotating assemblies including rods, pistons, crankshafts and their components.
Factory OEM ignition only.
No electric fuel pumps.
Maximum engine size, 368 cubic inches ~ No trans brakes.
No fuel injection OEM or AFTERMARKET.
Intake manifold must be OEM cast iron available for that make and year of truck, or an aluminum EDELBROK PERFORMER low rise only. NO other brand names and no other makes of EDLEBROK.
Absolutely NO PORTING of heads or intake allowed.
Carb swaps allowed, vacuum secondary ~ single pump only.
Open headers allowed, bottom exit only.
Must run a steady 17 inches of engine manifold vacuum (minimum) at 800 RPM’s for 30 seconds. No vacuum pumps or equipment that will produce vacuum.
OEM stalls (not to exceed 1800 rpm’s).
Must have fan shroud.
Must have vacuum line routed to front or side of engine bay for easy access by tech personnel.
Solid cams allowed, no roller cams, no roller rockers.
No after market heads which includes vortec, n-heads, dart, world, indy and others.
After reading this again, it says i have to run OEM rotating assemblies, doesnt say it must be what came with the motor, might be able to stroke it.

Sounds like the same rules the SDMR use.

cacsrx1, you are correct, I took the info off there web site. It's amazine how well some of these engines run, I have a very good suspicion, if there were some protests most would be illeagle. I have no intention of rocking the boat, but i dont want to go into this with no chance at all. I have gotten to know one of the guys, who has been very helpful, but i think he might hold some info, cant say i blame him for that.
So far i'm starting with a 302, althongh that might have to change, for a 351 that i would have to find.

What about specialty race fuels???? We could have FUN with that one! Find out if they have to be commercially available or not.....We can give you the power of NITROUS without the bottle!!!!!
I know a LOT more about race fuels than I do FORD motors!!!! I'm a MOPAR GUY!!!! But I did work for FORD for 4 years!!! I made a LOT OF MONEY working on their JUNK AEROSTAR Transmissions (a4ld)!!!

Do not waste your time with that racing sactioning body. Unless things have changed it was the biggest crock of $hit I have ever seen. The ONLY way you could win was if you were a Tech or were a Techs best friend. For a few years I never missed a race, but after a few years of seeing guys win wearing their red Tech shirts I quit going. When you can enter the Superstock class, win that, Mod and Pro Mod, with the same truck, something is wrong. I had friends that cheated bad in Superstock, and wouldnt make the top five( well ported, solid roller 468 BBC). The local guys with their 460 Fords...... or were they 514's would destroy everybody. The Stock engines run hard because they CHEAT like MOFOS and spend a ton of money on ironheaded engines.
