hey guys im new to this forum, just signed up, anyways, im in the market for a new-to-you sled, and i know for a 1998 Mountain Max 700 triple for $2500, I am wondering if these sleds are good or not, what is the gas consumption, Yamaha triples are good on gas from what I hear, just wondering what there like, and how big of a jump is it from a Bravo to a mm700 triple? I know its big, im only 15, but the sled im gettin' now is gonna have to do me for like 5-6 years!!! How much stock hp in these anyways, i know ALOT about sleds, especially for my age, I want to get a Yammie, cuz i knows they are the most reliable sled in my opinion, just look at a bravo and the enticer 11, those are tough sleds, and mototrs, well i haven't heard of one yet that blew up! Anyways somebody reply soon with some help, thanks.

Stock HP is around 112. Damn nice sleds. The 97-98-99 had weak drive shafts. And steering posts. I have heard that putting risers on the bars makes them more prone to braking. Don't let that scare you away from it, just the weak points of the pre 2000 Mountian Maxs, but something to look at.

Night and day difference from the Bravo.

Gas mileage is GREAT!!!!!

This should be a solid sled as long as it has been taken care of right. Give it a good once over. If it looks good you should be able to have some fun with it. There are lots off good people on this forum to help you out with any questions you might have.

do you think that i can handle all the power? My dad has a skandic widetrack 600 l/c, i think they have around 110 hp, maybe a bit less, i can handle that no prob, but its geared different and ALOT heavier than the MM 700, oh yeah, what do you have to say about the gas mileage? Good or bad? I know anything over a bravo is gonna burn more gas, I mean u cant get no better gas mileage than 120 km's to 3 gallons of gas!!!

ok, just missed that you said gas mileage is great, but seriously do you think I can handle the power? Im pretty strong for my age, weight is not an issue if you can lift the front end of a Rx-warrior and a skandic widetrack!!! Those are HEAVY sleds, and the Warrior with a 4 cylinder motor in the front, its not easy to lift!!! Anyways, just tell me what you think, 1 cylinder to 3, 25hp to 112hp, a bit of a jump!!

No, I dont think it will be to much sled. A d&mn nice sled for a 15 year old. Use you head, just cuz it has more power doesn't mean you have to hold wide open all the time. You will get used to it.

And if you need more, buy a set of Bender Triple pipes.

yup stock is around 112 hp. i got a 2003 venture 700 (basicly the same sled with a 2 up seat) i went from a enticer 2 to that. damn it had SOOO much more power. i was only 17 when i bought that sled and i could handle it no problem. the gas milage on my stock 700 is around 16 mpg. thats very easy for a high power sled. your gonna love mm. the aftermarket parts are endless for this sled to. i got around $5000 worth of aftermarket parts on mine and i still want alot more. good luck

Pipes will cut your mileage by 1/2 & then u must run premium. Run 142.5 main jets; drop the needles 1/2 & clutch it to run at 8400. Use regular gas & the cheapest 2 stroke oil you can buy on sale. it will live forever.

Oh yeah, you got to use your head with any machine, i use my head on sleds on the time, if i dont think the sled can handle it because of the lack of poer, i wont do it (most of the time...) But the only reason i keeps my Bravo opened out all the time is cuz it dont have much speed, also b'y, i dont think i would need a set of triple benders if i had that sled, i got 25 hp now, so 112 should do!!! If anybody got anymore info on the sleds tell me please, my dad is unsure of it cuz its a "700", he wanted me to get a 600 tops, but this has a little less horsepower than the 600's, so he's startin' to consider it...

I went with 142,5 on PTO side and 141,3 on the other cylinders. VERY good milage and crisp response. Ran it 0-6000 ft WOT for 1 min and it worked perfect.

I have a 98 MM that I bought new, and rode it stock for 5 years. Then I put a 141 track on it with the MPI Skid relocation kit. In 2006 I put a set of Bender pipes on it, and last year I lengthened the skid to a 151. I have just shy of 8000 km on it and have never been into the engine, but I am going to put new rings in this year. I run 148.8 jets in all three cylinders and have a Vari-Flo installed that keeps it close on warm days. In over ten years of riding this sled has been dead reliable, it goes all the time. When I put the pipes on, the fuel mileage did drop a bit, but it still goes further on a tank than any of the new sleds that I ride with.

Kind of long winded, but just letting you know how good of luck I have had with that sled. This will be a huge step up from your Bravo, but it will be worth it. You are fifteen now, this sled will last you into your early twenties pretty easily. You say 112 hp will be lots, but as you get more comfortable with the sled you will want more, and there is still a lot of stuff you can get for these machines. Tell your dad he won't regeret buying it.

okay b'ys, i just picked up a 2001 Phazer Mountain Lite for $2800, in near MINT condition, with electric start and reverse (the guy that i got it off put it on 4 yrs ago), she's a nice little sled for me i think, next summer/fall i will be getting a pipe and reeds, and a low red windy for her, i got NO money left over now, it drained me right out, but that was what I really wanted, a Phazer Mountain Lite.
