I need to change the center piston in my SRX but want to know if I have to take off an outside jug to do this.Any time I've changed pistons before I had all the jugs off and I can't remember ever changing just the center alone. As many times as I've had the engine apart I should be able to answer this question myself but I'll be darned if I can.
life is a lot easier if they all come off.
why are you only changing one. i know people have done it but if you are doing preventative maintainance why not change all three pistons if your pulling it apart.

It will be easier to pop the "wrist-pin" out, if all the cylinders are off.

I changed the outside 2 last fall and at the time I must have decided the center one was good so I left it,the ones I replaced was to exchange Weisco for oem.
I figured I'd have to take one of the outside ones off to do the job and as long as the base gasket doesn't get marked up to the point of having to replace it I'll leave the other one on.
