Had a problem with the wife's 2000 SXR 700. The headlight dims significantly when the brake is applied. Could this be the voltage regulator? Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help

My 97 Vmax did the same thing. Changed the tail light to a led tail light and that solved the problem. You may want to check the grounds in the wiring harness or "rub thru's" under the seat.

yep, I finally got an LEd to replace the stock one on my venture, the dimming was fixed under braking, and the passenger handwarmers work well now.

I got mine from dennis kirk for like 17 dollars. the one I got has 360 degree light coverage and looks a tad brighter than stock in both bbrake and running light operation.

The difference in handwarmer heat for the passenger was 80 degrees for the stock on high, and 95 degrees on high warmer position with the led at idle. That is a huge difference.

You can save a few watts also by exchanging the speedo, tack and bright/dim light over to a led 194. Ordered quite a few over EBAY but found out that the 194 SMD/SMT (surface mount device/technology) are definately the way to go. Went with a 3 chip, 9 smd/smt for the tack and speedo. Just a single smd/smt for the high/low beam. All of these are the ones with the three tiny, tiny emmitters in each one.
