has anyone ever intentionally bent a set of handlebars? i have a set that i like the rise and width, just dont care for the rake back. just wondering if anybody had any tricks or advice on this so as not to loose structural integrity. bars are stock mountain viper. intent is to give them a more straight feel, less rake back.
If you try to bend them back it will kink the bend. Once a tube is bent there's no going back. You could try bending it in a different spot. You will need a tube bender to do it without kinking the tube. Chances are it will not fit in the bender because of the bends already in it. Your better off finding another bar.

i put mine in the vise and went at er, two years no probs. like you, i didnt like the cruiser feel of the bars now they are completly straight

do you have the equipment and skills to do this? i havent seen a set of bars that i like so far, short of the fly tapers, but then i need a riser block and that just adds more $. XT700, i like the way you think. having bent several sets of bars and straightened them using pipes, hammers what have you, and then ride for another season before the misfortune of another bending incident. just didnt want to mess up the only set of good bars. thanks for other input above. lets here some more ideas.jmp2204 said:

yes as far as cutting /welding i do .....do not have a bender though(could possibly make one ,time is an issue) tell ya what give me some dimensions and i'll see what i can do(could take time though )snowdad4 said:
