is the actual length of the rear of rear shock shorter on an srx compared to an sx-r ? do you need both shocks to change to long travel?

yes you do need both rear skid shocks. also need to change transfer rod spacers around. some one else will post with more detals who has done this. 
Larry at North Country Yamaha, did just the rear last year and left the front short and it worked really well....but its becuase you have to pull the limiters up to get the sled to sit more level...but you will loose some ride doing this. If it was me I would change all of them....
