Just looking at getting a sled or two that requires work in order to make a little money. I've been having trouble locating threads or detailed info on rebuilding an SRX bottom end or full engine. I've been searching, but I keep finding people's builds and not the info that I need to be able to tell if I'm getting a good deal on the sled or not.

Just for reference, I found one 98 SRX on here for 900 and it needs a bottom end rebuild. I haven't ever rebuilt a Yamaha before, but have rebuilt tons of 80's - 90's Polaris and Arctic Cats, hoping it would still remain similar enough... I just need something to give me the specifics. Thanks!

JUST A FYI, AND CHECK THIS OUT, YAMAHA CRANK SHAFT 700 SRX BEARING HAVE GONE OBSELETE. YOU WOULD NEED TO FIND SUPPLIER. THIS IS WORD I GOT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Call midwest crank, he should be able to tell you if the parts are avilable to rebuild a '98 SRX crank, he's pretty resonable too.

i do the same thing.buy a couple blown up sleds cheap, repair and sell em once the snow flys.i found that polaris, cat and yamaha are similiar.well even doo in the bottom end.i just hate those stupid cageless pin bearings in the doo top ends!i bet you could find a good used crank on ebay for a couple hundoe if your patient.the last time i had a crank fixed it was a polaris triple and it cost me 325 bucks.a week later a crank went on ebay and sold for 110!
