hey guys. just picked up a 98 mountain srx 700 tripple. guy that had it disconected the variflow. im not real familiar with what this is. can someone explain how it works.i believe its jetted right now for about 2400 feet and about -10 to -20c. there is a hose that comes from this variflow thing that just hangs behind the air box. is this supposed to be hooked to anything. is there a site that i can read and learn about this variflow? also what do yous think of the mountainsrx 700. its a 136" with the long travel susp.also how to tell if the pipes are benders? any info would be greatly appreciated. this is a pretty big upgrade for me.ive heard that these were around the 130-140 hp range. any thoughts? thanx guys.

You should be able to find all you need to know about the variflow there. Chances are they are stock pipes, Benders have a large name plate on the top pipe. For deep snow use these sleds need alot of suspension work. They flat out sucked stock..................SRXtreme

Are you sure is disconnected? There is a tube that is supposed to hang below the carbs for the system to work. I think it is around 1/2 inch tube. Take some pics and post on here.

pics of what i got

its got the variflow valve on the console.on the valve itself there is a long black hose tha was hanging between the airbox and oil tank. the other clear hose goes to the right side looking at the motor from seat and hangs down under pull cord through console. this one has a tee on the end that goes nowhere. as far as the carbs ther is nowhere on the covers to attach any hoses.cant seem to post pics.says they are to big

The directions are on the Holtzman website. The system works great, but is useless without exhaust temp gauges. It will let you adjust 4 jet sizes on the fly, but no way to monitor exhaust temps without gauges. Jeff Wurl

variflow again

my drawing is pretty crude.just need to know where these hoses go.the clear one that has a tee on the end. is it supposed to just hang there withh a tee?the black one was hanging between the airbox and tank.also the right side on drawing is a big hole with nothing on it what goes there?

The bigger opening on the body just goes to a "tee" and nowhere else, that is the inlet.

The smaller one on the side of the body goes to your vacum source.

And you are correct. The smallest one coming out of the bottom of the body goes to the carb vent lines.

From your PM sounds like you got where the hoses go. Now for the vacum source it should be on the cap on the middle carb.

you have helped me out tremendously. thanx alot for your time.ive posted a few times about this but just a while ago figured out how to write on pics and post them.again is there a vaccum source other than the top of the carb? there is nothing drilled there.im assuming the guy either changed tops or used diferent source. thanx again.at least ill get some sleep tonight. Wayne

i dont belive it is the center carb ...mine was hooked up to the mag side carb i belive i took it off and changed carb top and cant remember which one but i know it wasnt the middle

It actually doesnt matter what carb the vacum source is in. But majority of them I have seen has been on the center carb. The vacum source on my sled is on the center carb and the Variflow performs flawlessly.

Here is a quote from the vacum source instructions.
"After determining the location in your carb, choose the carb allowing easiest attachment and exit of the outlet tube and does not interfere with the sterring arm"

Some carbs had the vacum source on the side but the SRX carbs it is on the carb cap. I am betting the previous owner swapped out the cap with the vacum source fitting.
