Just bought an Exciter with a cracked primary. Was wondering if there is any better set-ups than a stock clutch.

There would be no point in putting anything else on it. Unless you could get a new clutch that is set up for that model, it may take a lot of time and money to get it set up right. You would not be gaining reliability by putting a Comet-vomit on it. You can get whatever parts you need from Yamaha or find a complete used one.

Would a clutch from a Vmax work?
Put a Vmax 600 engine in and Vmax 600 clutch....
Just a thought.

Does anyone now if a primary clutch from a Vmax or Phazer will work on a Exciter (it kinda spllt in half).
change it over to vmax 500 or 600 clutches. as a set(primary and secondary) they will fit and work nice as they are an overdrive setup use the 500,600 drive belt for them as well.i had 95 600 setup on my 87 exciter and it worked really well.
