Last year at the end of the season my 97 sx died. Its has no spark. Tried a diff CDI no luck. Checked the stator and coils but the all ohm'd out to be ok.
Bypassed the kill swtch, still no go.Did the wire loom thing to prevent a rub thru 2 years ago. What am I missing?

also check plug wires and ends.. Like Turk said bad stator can test ok.
Check your wires also, between stator and coils ect>>>

My 97 red head did the same thing. I replaced the stator and put new coils and wires in it. No problem since.
I put new plug ends on last year because it was running like s**t. That cured that problem and it ran great. Will I be able to check the stator if I put my ohm meter on and pull it over? Does anyone have a stator for sale? I really do not want to go to the dealer for one. They want alot of cash.
Mine did all kinds of goofy stuff. The first time I had an issue was the fall cleanup. No spark. Everything checked out fine, but there was no fire. I cleaned all the plug ins, greased them up and it ran like a top the whole year.
Next year (most current one) I dug it out of storage and all was good. 15 miles into the first trip of the year we shut it off and it wouldn't start. Same thing as before. Took it home and let it sit in the garage overnight and it popped right off. I did the ohm checks and all was within spec. Messed with some stuff, but never actually fixed anything. Worked fine until it didn't about 20 miles into a 3 day weekend ride away from home. It was running funny and down on power. Shut it off and no sparky. Had a guy with that had the same sled (99) and we did some parts swapping on the trail. Nothing. Drug it back to the lodge and rode the old 86 phazer the rest of the weekend. End of the trip it's time to load up. We were just getting ready to drag the 97 on the trailer and I pulled it over for fun. Started right up. Drove it in the trailer and told it how I felt. Replaced the parts and rode it 3 different days in the spring without any problem. That's my stator story.

its the stator. replace it and you'll be good to go. buddy had his do that on us 2yrs ago. ran fine. stopped at the gas station for some fuel and then it wouldn't start back up. the stator was junk. when it was running, it seemed to be able to make/keep a connection, but when it was shut off to fuel up, it wouldn't go again. then after letting it sit like 30-45min. it started back up and ran for like 3-5 min. then it died and wouldn't fire again. we just thru in a new stator and she ran perfect ever since. the '97 sx's and '98 srx's seemed to have a junky stator. the old stator on my buddies sx, would ohm out ok, but it was junk.
OK. I will look for another stator. Do I have to get one from a '97 or is there an upgraded swap I can use? I have already replaced this stator once before with a '97.
