I thought about painting the grill inserts on my 03 Viper to White. Has anyone done this and what brand paint did you go with that worked best? Has anybody had them chromed? Pros and cons of each?
thanks

I would recomend powder coating instead of paintaing. The finish will last longer and you an do any color and even textures. They have a near chrome look that would look good all for a fraction of the cost. My friend did all his grills powder coated for less than $50, that included sandblasting.

Im in Canada, things are more exspensive here, but $50 Cnd is $41 US so not too far off.
Do you like it better than paint??? I think it looks way better...

How do you find a powder coater look in the yellow pages for powder coating?
you can try CCPerformance, I am sure they would do them too...

i have painted several snowmobiles grilles. as long as you clean them well, scuff them with sandpaper or scotchbrite. then apply the paint. i have used kylon and rustoleum, my grilles look like new. srxspec has pics of his viper with white grilles in the classified section right now. i just finished my white grilles on my viper tonight. powdercoating will last longer but the grilles dont take enough abuse to warrant the cost. 5.00 for a can of paint or 50.00 to send them out for coating. i'll use the extra 45.00 to fill my sled full of gas a few times. ski

Paint....
i painted my 02 viper screens last year... didnt rough em up or anything, haul in an open trailer, and they still look great... white is still as bright as ever, used rustoleum gloss white... this year im going for a new look so, repainted again.... could change next year too.... in fact could change it for more years than i will own the sled to equal the cost of powder coating, hey by the way, i think rustoleum makes a chrome like paint.... hmmmm, try it both ways, still for under 10 bucks...

thanks for the feedback on the paint. I trailer in a enclosed trailer= no road wear. the white grills on srxspecs sled look great, they really stand out.
