Hey guys This coming winter I want to mess with my clutching a little bit. So I want to know what you modified SRX owners are running for clutch setups. I want to go out a buy a few more helix's, weights, springs, and rivets. This way I can Make notes of what does what, and find my sleds best setup.

Right now I have the listed clutch parts in my Sig. I would like to see what helix's and weights you guys are running or what I should go and buy. I would like to try a steeper helix.

8BU's for racing. Whats a good setup for 1000' snow drags?

LMK so I can get some parts and start the tuning as soon as the snow comes!

8bu,s work well with a helix arond 50/44 on a srx. lotsa tip weight; some in the mid & green secondary spring. Others may have different ways to do it & there are no wrong & right ways...just different. Listen to others & keep an open mind.

I'm looking for a Racing setup 1000'.

I'm also looking for Very aggressive trail/WOT racing setups.

I have a trail/WOT racing setup now, But I want to try different setups (Like different helix's, weight Spring ect) To find where my SRX peaks for a trail/WOT racing setup.

So in baby language. I want to find the best setup, So I want to buy different helix's, weights and find the best setup. What should I buy???

TURK: What do you think about my setup now but with a 56/46 Helix????

your gonna kill the motor ... that secondary will shift way to fast u will need to lightweight those 8dn-20 not sure its the right way to make it run better..

Kill the motor?????

Lightweight them, I will need 5.5g+ ion the tips to get my 8350max RPM I NEED! I have 4.5 in the tip and I know I will be over revving.

Where can I get a rivets heavier than 4.5g??? I really don't want to put a washer in behind the rivet.

well turk will be the best to anwser .. are u overreving on top u will need to give him the rpm from dead stop to max top rpm

If you read the sentence closer "I know I will Be" Meaning I haven't run it since I've done the clutching. With what I've read and based on my porting and mods, I know I'll be over revving 300+ RPM. I need to get 8350-8400, for my pipes. Since I have a ported engine I might need to go higher than what the PI PIPES need to run at. They make peak power at 8350 on a stock motor. With porting they will breath a little better, Peak power could be more, or less. I will have to get this on the dyno before I start clutch tuning.

i think some people run 53-43 helix or 54-44 but it will be try and error..... turk will probably pop up something good for u

I would like to try something a little higher. A 54-44 would be nice. I read that Hauck offers a nut and bolt rivet replacement for the flyweights? Is this true? That would be easier to adjust than these damn rivets!

thats why i love heel clicker u screw a bolts and if its not perfect u unscrew and put a bigger one.. rivets take alots of time to install and remove....but it all depends about your motor hp it will be easier to wait and try on snow or if u got money to spend well buy some helix ..........

i do the same u do read ask and buy alots of helix here and there and do some try and error.... i need to send many beer at turk for the great help :wel:

If only I could afford it, I would buy TURK a beer store, lol! He's been a great help not only to me, but to everyone here! It's greatly appreciated buddy!

Yeah Modsrx, Trial and error is a learning path. I want to see what changes the helix, weghts, springs will make. I'll be happy with a setup that benefits my riding type.

yes, hauck does have nut and bolt replacement hardware. you can just go to your local hardware store tho, and purchase all the washers/bolts/nuts you want for less $. i believe to, that a 56/46 would be too much. personally, i would try the 54/44. you can throw in the 8bu's if you want. i'm assuming too that you're talking about the 8bu-00's and not the 8bu-10's? what about trying 89a10's. those would be better suited for the lake/trails. if all your going to do is 1,000ft drags, then i think would stick to the 8bu-00's.

has any one here tried using nuts /bolts in the tips to tune ? i thought about that before but not too sure that would be safe. would threadlock be safe enuff to keep everything together? it would be alot easier than changing rivets

Bruce I've considered Trying what you listed. How is that helix? The 56-44, How well would it perform???

kinda like to keep 'em right now for my 780bb viper :) if i decide to get ride of them, i'll let you know

pops, i've used the bolt/nuts on the tips of 8dn-10's that i was using on my piped viper. it works. no loctite used. you just have to be careful that you bolt/nut/washer combo isn't so long, that it hits on the inside of the spider, causing the weight to not swing out properly. the cam profile of the flyweight wouldn't ride on the roller then.

Ok No big deal. It was worth a try.

I might convert over to a roller secondary.

Bruce PM me some prices!
