Question for you all...
98 MSRX- has anyone ever tried to run these carbs without the small white plastic things by the main jets? I have trouble with these all the time-they end up sliding up past the mains and blocking off the floats, then the sled blows up. Even if I replace them-they do the same thing by the end of the season. I want to run without them but am not sure what will happen-has anyone tried this? what happend???

Thanks for your input...

not quite sure what you are referring to, but the small white thing should be about a 1" diameter ring, i believe acts as a "windage" tray, with compression tabs attached to the nozzle, that should not go anywhere if installed properly. or are you refering to jet needle shim, which is very imprtant to the tuning of the carbs, which, once again, if properly installed, should not fall off.

Yes- it is the little 1 inch ring attaching to the nozzle. I am in an area with reformulated gas (10%ethanol) and I think that it weakens the plastic over time and then it slides up close to the float.
