Just picked up a sweet Hauck piped 2001 SX-R 700 and I need to put on a new track. I know I cannot do a studded 1.25" lugged track with the stock drivers, but can I do the 1.25" Camoplast Ice Ripper with the stock drivers and not tear up the heat exchanger? Just sold my Doo and I'm back on blue, yee ha!!! Thanks in advance.

I have a ice ripper on my viper - it's not piped and I like riding a little looser than 144 studs - I think they are a great compromise between weight and traction. They are great on hard packed trails with occasional ice.

If you ride icy trails all of the time then a 1" predator and 144 studs are the most economical and probably a better set up all around for you.

The track I have is an ice ripper xt - they are single ply (lighter) and have more protruding carbide than the original ice ripper.

Also - I would think the traction requirements on an Apex and a piped sxr to be not similar in any way. Apex makes a huge amount of torque and weighs about 150 lbs more than a sxr.

Good job ditchin' your mustard bucket!
