I have a battery tray I think would work - from a 97 xt 600 I think, should bolt right in.
Well if you can find an electric start kit for your sled you can run your leds that way I think. I know it will have a battery but why do you want your leds on while your sled is not running?

just for show when i am in the restaurants and stuff...xsivhp would i be able to put that on the right side like right behind the can? and how much you want for it?
you can just mount a battery in it , hook up your lights and use them . then just recharge the batt at home . i have led s on mine there great , for parking along the trail so you can see something

I was told to use a drill battery form a 12v drill so i can easily take it in an out to charge is this something that would work? or will it die like every 3 hours? how long will a 12v motorcycle battery work?

Like mentioned above, just run them off a battery,LEDs dont draw much power. Have you ever seen the LEDs that you can press a button to see how they work,Well the ones i have seen and bought are 8 to a package and they where run off of watch batteries, just for display purposes of course, but that tells you how little power they use. Hope this helps you out a little.

leds use hardly any power ...a drill battery would probaly work ...for 8 to 10 hours ....a motorcycle battery would go a few days ....i have a battery in my srx and i have a pig tail on it to charge it with ...just plug it in and go ...but you have a sxr so there should be a wire you can run back to the battery to charge it .....

Battery for LEDS
I would go with a smaller battery source. It depends on how many LEDs you are using, they draw very little power. I have an LED (single) flashlight that has run for several hours on the same AA batteries. When you get into mounting a large battery normally used for electric start, that would be a bit much. To automate the charge, you would have to tap into the electric circuit or buy the parts for the electric start kit which is expensive. The battery you would need are more than $50. I would keep it simple with smaller battery packs.

from what i am understanding there is some kind of relay or something that has to be added to get a charging wire for battery...and from what i understand it regulates how many amps or volts is sent to charge battery ..so the stator have even load on it or something like that ......i was thinking for now i will just remove battery and take in house to charge ...i had four ...6 inch led tubes with like 40 leds in each tube ...but olny ten lit at a time depending on color ...so i was running about 40 leds constant ...but that was off the sled ...but the leds take a beating ...mine didnt last long before the tubes cracked or i was draging them ..ice build up was bad and weighed them down ...so i am not running leds again ,,,just guages,..and mabe gps

Your sled would have to have a rectifier to charge the battery which I do not believe it has.

I would use the KISS method. The simpler the better.
See http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3251 The LiIon batteries hold up good to the cold temps. Splice in a fuse and switch then use a quick disconnect cord so you can take it back into the hotel for a nightly/weekly recharge. You should be able to fit it with out issues in the trunk. Take the seat off and pull the wires to the dash for the switch and then wire up the led's for the appropriate voltage the battery produces. You should be able to get a 2200 mAh 11.1v battery pack to work pretty good. Just about any 12v 500-1000 mA transformer would be able to charge the batteries if you did not want to pop for another $30 charger.
This method would not be very bulky and would be easy to use.

I was looking at LEDs on-line. Can they be mounted under the running boards? Or where? I have a red sled so I think that red LEDs under the running boards would be SWEET!
