Hi Guys,
I have done some reading on the site about broken speedo keys and need to know how best to get the broken part out of the shaft without taking shaft out

Obviously a drill bit is not a good idea..Also read about pushing the broken part into shaft but prefer to get it out if possible?

Any thoughts? Also, how long is the key supposed to be? I cannot get one to compare till tomorrow so was just wondering as you can see from the pics the current one is a little short...

Thanks in advance.

you will also have to replace the piece that in the shaft, as a set. no way i know of to remove the rest of the drive key, short of spraying some pb blast and use some picks and patience. best way is to take a 90 degree angle drill and over size the hole, screw in a self tapping screw, and use a gear puller to remove. slide hammer works slick if the shaft is out. its a pain, regardless. as per your photos, about 1/3 is missing. pt #'s needed: connector(drives into shaft) 8k4-47577-00, key: 8k4-47715-00. hope this helps!
