Are we talking stock engine, modified, race or all of the above?

My wife has an 01sxr700 Its a really good trail sled. I have run the sled in the thousand foot without radar, racing friends. I cant tell you what the speed was but I can tell you It not anything to write home about. Its all stock and has a battery for the electric start and i weigh about 200lbs sled had 1800 miles. Most any powervalved 600 can beat me. Im sure with pipes/reeds etc it would be another story. I love the sled on the trail I think it handles the twistys better than my apex. Sips fuel and sounds great.

don't know about 1000' but in 2000' a stock trail sx700, with studs, runs about 99 - 102 mph. the best i have seen is 122 mph ( stock motor w/ power inc triples, lowered, 1/2" track & 15% overdriven clutches ).

I would love to stand behind a radar gun and watch a stock sx 700 110hp sled go by at 102mph. I have never seen those types of speeds except on the "dream meter" speedo. What is wrong with my wifes sled? 80-85 sounds about right on track in the thousand foot. I just dont think the thing is going to crack 100 mph stock.

What setup are you running? Are you running the stock setup? Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it used, have you visually confirmed all your components?

Sorry i was being a smartazz. All i am trying to say is that I do not think a stock sx700 will do over 100mph in a mile of perfect flat ice. Maybe i need to find a longer run to really hammer on my wifes 700 and bring the handheld gps along and see what the real deal is. I have allways thought it was able to go about 95 on speedo on a long run under ideal conditions. But after reading some of the above posts it should have no problem cracking 100mph all stock. I need to see it done.

hey guys lets have fun.the sxr 700 has to have something wrong with it.ive got a trophy at home were my sx exciter went 96mph in about 1200 feet.my sx 700 hammers my exciter.all ive got done to my 700 is reed spacers geared down and straightline pin kit to use cat weights and a variable rear helix camaplast track extra wheels in skid i think i could break 100mph in a thousand
Very easy to get a stockish 700 red head engine to run over 100 mph
-verify centre to centre & clutch alignment
-make sure rpm,s are 84-8500 rpm
-lower lug tracks make the best top end.... .92 lug works great for speed runs
-tighten up limters
-loosen off front shock springs
-back off weight transfer

i agree turk what i find funning is so many people think by gearing up there sled will go faster i always geared for 105 mph used a varible helix shifted it hard on the bottom let it rev 8000rpm then let the cam pull it to 8500 rpm on the top it works good for me but whatever people do each to his own

80-85 in 1000' sounds about right. in a 2000' run on ice the first 1000' builds the majority of the speed. the last 1000' usually adds 12 - 15 mph.
