Was wondering if anybody has ever took a temp of the actual head temp. after running their sleds. Have a srx 700 and looking to change the color of the heads. My paint says its good up to 500 degrees.
Any help would be great!!

i would not think that the head would exceed 500 degrees. I could definitely see the pipes getting that hot, but not the head. It disispates heat too fast being liquid cooled. I could see it being 225 to 250 ish though...

Everybody else feel the same about this??
I would think the head would run the same temp as the rest of the motor, as coolant is flowing through it too. If you have an infared thermometer you can just point it were you want to check temp. I have one but my sleds not running at the moment. It should be in a few day's. I can check then. If my memory is correct i think my motor was running 180* on the outside of the motor, and the coolant was about 160* in the tank last year.
youll be fine with 500 degree paint.
