i was wondering if i should do the tune up myself or pay a shop to do it i have never owned a sled befor so it wold be my first time and i do not even no what has to be done in order fo it to be a tune up.

its a 2001 sxr with 5000 miles on it

thanks

its pretty easy stuff to do. i would clean/go over both clutches. check the plastic buttons in the secondary, and check conditions of the bushings in both clutches. take airbox off and clean carbs. check reed petal condition while down there and put in a new set of "gapped" plugs. grease all the points in the rear suspension and front end. drain old chaincase oil. adjust chain tension too. check/replace slides if necessary.

mrviper has a tech write-up of carb cleaning in the tech/faq section. i would suggest buying a service manual for your sled. it would really help walk you thru.

any one got a pdf file or something of this manual i see some one did before wondering if it is still floating around.

it is the LIT-12618-02-17

thanks
