I need help with the adjustment on the brakes for a 1992 phazer. The old pads were worn out so I bought new ones, but being the new pads are thicker how do I get the mechanism (brake piston) to go in so the new pads with fit? Any help (service manual) or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I looked in my manual and appears you have to remove the auto adjuster and loosen the adjustment nut behind it. Assemble the brake aand pump the brake lever to tighton the pads.

Hopefully this makes some sense.

I can't remember for sure but I believe there is three phillips screws holding the aluminum cap on the adjuster. The cap has a spring on the inside pushing aginst it. While removing the cap keep pressure on it until you get all the screws out. When you take the cap off look at everything so that way you'll remember how it goes back together. Once you do it you'll see its very easy and can only go back together one way. Good luck and you'll see its very easy.
