i read a thread the other day about some gearing stuff.i have a 98 srx that is completly stock, completly rebuilt with all oem componets.today i pulled the chain case cover back off to see what gears i have.its a 37 bottom.all stock i assume.the thing is,i no longer feel the need to go 100+ mph on a snowmobile.i prefer tighter riding conditions that are best suited for short burst of brutal acceleration.so that being said, what would you gearing gurus do?i heard the 98s were tall gearing to begin with.also when you change a gear do you have to change both gears and the chain?and lastly im in need of recommended clutching componets for my sled, any suggestions of someone who might have some used stuff?i cant stomach spending 200 on a mail order kit.thanks

My fav for a 98 was to gear down one tooth on top (22t) and run 8bu-10 weights. It wasn't the best top end setup, but it was great corner to corner. Others will have more detailed input.
