I recently cleaned out the carbs and airbox and found allot of oil blow back in the airbox. How do I know what the correct setting should be on the oil cable.

Im not sure what the cable seting shoud be at im sure someone here will. One way to check for proper oil use is to log how many gallons of fuel you burned and dividing it into how much oil you added. I too have some oil in my airbox not a puddle but a little bit. Plugs look good and it runs fine.

Welcome.....
all yammie tripples have spit back it's normal
do these checks in this order
1st- set idle to 16- 1,7000 rpm's(@ operating temp)
2nd- set throttle end play to 2mm(adjustment for that is down at the carb rack)
3rd- set oil pump cable free play here and here to 22(richer)to 24(leaner)mm
then set choke anytime to 1.5mm

I am working with a buddies 97 700 sx, the oil pump setting procedure looks similar on his sled to what is pictured here. (Correct me if I am wrong) So by checking free play, I should be pulling the cable apart and measuring the distance between, correct?

Same procedure as above yes but you use 19 to 21mm for a 1997 700.Smokenm said:I am working with a buddies 97 700 sx, the oil pump setting procedure looks similar on his sled to what is pictured here. Cool thanks for the help... The current setting when I checked it was a 22mm and it still goes thru a TON of oil. Due I risk going leaner with it or does it need a new oil pump?
