Just lookin for some opinions/reviews/thoughts on a 1996 VMAX.
A buddy of mine is lookin for a cheap sled (will be his first sled) just to get him out on the trail this year. I've been pokin around keepin an eye out for somethin for him and stumbled upon a black 96 VMAX for $600. We havent had a chance to go take a look at it yet but from the pictures the guy e-mailed it looks pretty clean. I hope to get to take a look at it this weekend but I'm not familiar with this sled. What should I look for - problem areas, common repairs, weak spots ect.
I know there are a quite a few guys out there who still have these sleds - What do you think of them?

only complait i know of harder on fuel
If it's black it's not an xt (unless it was repainted). So it would have the proaction, not the proaction plus rear suspension and might not have the adjustable front tss struts. But other than that it's probably close to my 96 xt. My xt was a decent sled. They are heavy. The suspension isn't up to today's standards but better than probably an all bogey sled of the 70's. They like gas and oil but mine was still better than some friends who run newer artic cats.
