deer hunting in Maine, I need some help
I know some of you are from Maine and I need some help. Are there any places to deer hunt in Maine near Waterville on state land? My son and my mothers husband just went out there to hunt and now that they are there they don't know anyplace that they can hunt. My mothers husband drives Amish for a living and had to haul 10 of them out there, so they decided that they were gonna deer hunt while they were out there. I assumed that they already had all of this figured out, but I just got a call from them and they have no clue if there's anyplace that they can hunt. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Not from there, but you might try this site. If they're in a bind to find a place to hunt, you could probably find one for them on here.

Another link for some nice maps in Maine. I didn't look that close at these, but you may find public land in here somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I had already looked around on that first site but I never found anything. There are some maps of the area they are in on that second page, but I guess they found a place to hunt already.
I assumed they would have had all of this figured out before they went out there, but my mothers husband does this kind of stuff all the time, so it doesn't surprise me.
I guess they saw a real big buck on Thursday, but they missed it.

Funny that you mentioned deer hunting in Maine.
I used to live in Bethel, ME, and I drove for work all over western Maine, VT, and NH.
I saw more moose and bear than deer. Granted I am from WI, so I am used to seeing a lot of deer, but I seriously only saw a handful of deer in maine.
It was so bad that i drove back to my hunting land in WI to get a deer during the WI gun deer season and brought it back to Maine with me.
The good news, unless things have changed since 2000, is that with a ME license, you can shoot either a bear or a deer. Unfortunately bear meat is nothing like deer meat, taste wise. My coworkers could not believe how many deer we had in WI,and they were born and raised in Maine. All of these coworkers have only seen a handful of deer, and most times end up getting a bear instead of a deer.
