Do any of you guys know where I can get parts for a 99 vmax 500? Looks like I need a head, cylinder and a pair of pistons. I am in se Wisconsin. Dont really want to buy new so if you guys know of any salvage places that would be great.

Sparky you shoulda went to that snow show in the milwaukee expo center, they have everything used there in the swap... other then that i don't really know of a place besides looking around on here....
You are preety much going to have to buy the pistons and rings new. richierich or bruce @ cb can give you a quote for the pistons, gaskets, rings, wrist pin, and wrist pin bearings. If your going to do it all, I would do it right. Did you find the cause of why you grenaded your motor?
How bad is the head?
You can easily get your cylinder repaired by mailing it into millineum technologies, heck they might even be able to repair your head I'm sure

I do believe there is a place in waukesha called rooster hahns or there is a place in fort atkinson cant remember the name tho.

I was in the same boat last year with my 600. I found the head for $30 on e-bay and got a new cylinder for $230 from ALs snowmobile salvage. They have one for yours for $200 http://www.alssnowmobile.com/basket.aspx. I believe the heads are interchangeable between the 500 and 600. And for pistons I just picked up some Wiseco prolites.
