97 sx ppulled plug wires and the plug is very sooty on top,does this mean I need new plug caps or do I need new wires. Thanks Jason

need new caps. how well do the caps "click" or how "hard" do the caps go onto the plugs? if there is like no "resistance" (meaning hardness to push on and not electrical resistance), then they are shot.
