Sprocket removal

I have a '95 Vmax 600. I have the track out and need to replace the two outer sprockets. How do you get the retaining rings off? Should I just cut the ring and sprocket off since I'm replacing them anyhow? How do I install the new ones? I didn't see anything in the tech area.
 
Also, there is another part# listed for the sprockets. It says for use on the 8CC2. Is this part of the serial #?

you'll need to use a press to install the new drive sprockets so best to use the same press to remove the old sprockets...

I've done it with a hydraulic jack, two flat heavy steel bars and a chain... A little awkward but worked..... Press is best...

Thanks, I have a press. Just wanted to be sure before I attempted. I wasn't sure what that retention ring was for. Didn't want to break something.
