milky chain case oil?

there is not too much milk in the chain case, but surly not proper looking. would this mean the lower seal closest tunnel is shot. logically seems to be the only spot that I would think there would be moisture getting in there. if thats the case do I need to replace all the bearings or would a good cleaning be all thats needed and just replace the faulty seal
tried searching for 2 days on site, nothing directly to this. if someone knows something some where here please let me know

For starters I'd just change the oil and check everything out in the chaincase when you have the cover off.If you don't have a oil leak I doubt that you have a bad seal.Sometimes oil just gets milky because of a specific condition that you have exposed your machine to.I would not get to carried away just yet, keep it simple for now.
 
Water could just be from condensation over the years and lack of chain case oil changes. Whats the mileage on that sled? If I remember, this is your first sled. Do you know what the previous owner was like for maintenance?
 
Seals

As everyone on here already said....I would not be too concerned about this it's probably condensation. Take the chaincase cover off.....inspect everything really well & adjust your chain tension. Flush it out with brake clean and put it back together filling it with new oil. By the way, if you do have a bad seal I'd sooner think that it would be the lower one that is mounted in the chain case.......not the seal on the bearing itself.

As was mention flush it out with brake cleaner and spin the bearings a see if they are loud and grinding or smooth. Make sure to blow out all the brake cleaner and let the chaincase dry before putting it back together. More then likely it was just condensation over the years a lot of owners never touch the chaincase oil unless they have a problem or pull the drive shaft.

there is 13000 km on Brenda. It looks really clean decals are all mint and tunnel stickers arnt skuffed one bit! the block is new in the last 2 years, so I am assuming the chain case oil has had to be done in the past couple of years. Thanks for the help, just needed some reasurance thst it could be condensation. Thanks for the help guys. and yes tis is my first sled.
p.s. havent gone in yet but pulled the dip stick out and noticed there is no magnet. is it recomended to put new one on, or can I leave it as is?

Not to insult you...do a search on dipstick magnet...there are varied opinions on this subject...read up on it & you decide whats best for you as well as oils to use in the drive case...a lot of great advice here, most subjects have been talk about many times...good luck with you ride & have a great season
 
Pull it apart

You'll probably find the dipstick magnet in the bottom of the chain case....it might even still be in one piece! My opinion is that the chain case magnet is a good thing.

LOL! That's funny.

With that many KM's on Brenda, you should probably take that chain off and check it for stretch. There is a service limit for chain stretch in your service Manual ;)! . It would also be a good time to check out the bearings on both ends of the jackshaft and driveshaft. If you do a search on speedo bearing, you should get some info about removal and re-greasing.
