Hello all, new guy here, Mike, just bought a 08 Phaser RTX
It's been a real long time since I've snowmobiled, but I used to be into it big time. The past several years I've devoted to ATV's, but I'm tired of not being able to run trails in the winter, and many times there is just too much snow to use a quad to get out to my hut for ice fishing.
I wanted something new, lightweight, and relatively affordable, so I chose the Phazer.
My intended use will be getting back into trail riding with buddies who stayed in the sport, plus new ones I've met, using it on the lake to fish and boot around, and generally have a bit of fun.
I just turned 50, but used to be a real agressive rider (in my younger days) and I hope I bought the right sled. I was real close to getting a Nytro, but I could not justify the extra cost, at least for my situation now.
So, do you think this sled will serve my needs?

Have all the warranty issues and updates been resolved? your dealer should have taken care of it before delivery, and asked you to sign off at delivery.
sweet sled once you get the bugs worked out.

I think you made a good choice. Unless you want to race the big iron, this Phazer will do everything you want it to do, and much better than some of the smaller sleds. Yamaha makes great products, and for that price I think it's the best bang for your buck. Enjoy it.

Mike,
Sure you'll love it. I'm 46 and still ride very aggressively which this sled allows me to do. Absolutely loved my 99 SRX and then my 02 Viper for many seasons but more often than not, had a sore back at the end of the day....not the case with the Phazer. Doesn't have quite the kick in the pants or top speed as the bigger sleds, but for 90% of my riding it has all I need. Enjoy!

Nice ride! It looks to be spruced up a bit? Any details?

Thanks, all I've done so far is remove some of the factory warning stickers and throw a few of my own on.

If that is your corvette in your display pic? and in your garage? based on your statement
"I just turned 50, but used to be a real agressive rider (in my younger days) and I hope I bought the right sled. I was real close to getting a Nytro, but I could not justify the extra cost, at least for my situation now"
I have a good friend that just turned 53 this week and he rides more aggressive than me and i'm 35, snowmobiling is like riding a bike you never forget. With all the new technoligy out there the sleds are just unbleiveable compared to the older sleds. I rode a Phaser and it just did not cut it for me, i wanted more, now don't get me wrong i really want one for my young lad who is 13. But it looks like you might like somthing with a bit more HP. The Vector i think might have been a better choice for you. Now if it had the Nitor motor in it that would be a wicked sled. I know price was a facter for you but you could have picked one up that was a year or 2 old for the same price and just broken in for you. The good thing is your going to be out on the snow and ejoying the trails with reliability and thats the main thing

The avatar pic is a C5R that campaigned very successfully and the color scheme comes from the 24 Hours of Lemans in France.
I have a 2004 Z06, a Z16 commemorative edition which celebrates the above. Here's a pic taken of me at the track (Mosport) just over a month ago.
and at home in the garage...
"In case you weren't aware, the 4-stroke forum is located here. Lots more info about your new Phazer in that forum. You'll need to sign-up over there as well, two different databases.
Welcome to TY!"
Thanks, registered there just the other day

I was hoping you wouldn't say that was your C5R.
If it was, you wouldn't have any reason not have bought the nytro.
I test rode that exact model of phazer 2 years ago. I really liked how it handled, and it went pretty good, especially down low. The 500 has a nice exhaust note to it.
You know you could always throw some un natural aspiriation on that phazer if you ever determined it needed more power. I felt from my test ride that with 20 hp more it would be a riot to ride. Then they came out with the nytro.

Those Phasers are awesome sleds! great on the tight trails but most of your buddies will leave you behind on the long straight trails but man those things are fun in the twisties!
Hey take it back .... they forgot your windshield!!..lol..sweet sled bro!

Nice car!..
Phazer shoudl be fine if your not aggressive, id classify myself as a very aggressive rider ie. why i wasnt satisfied with the phazer, but jumping off a 140+hp SRX to a 80hp phazer also isnt fair.
