Hot Grips on Mountain Max?

Will Hot grips off a 00 Mountain Max (single headlight) work on an 01 MM (dual headlight)? Looks like if I was to buy them new there is a difference in the grips depending on what type of headlight you have. Wondering what this is all about.

01 and up had a higher output magneto, hence the "dual headlamp" moniker. grips will not work as well, or at all, swapping between those years. more power draw to operate the grips. grips were shaped different and the coiling(wires) were different, kind of a x pattern verses a grid pattern. good luck.
