i have a 04' venom with .7 miles on it. hasn't touched snow--EVER. got it from a dealer sitting on it crated till last year, assembled it for me when i bought it. any problems i should watch out for as i go to start out the saeson riding? it is 100% stock.. thanks

Good sled. You'll want to jet it down after you get it broke in as they are pig rich from the factory! Also, check the tech pages on some tips for setting up the clutching also.

if he did not clean the carbs before delivery you should do it or get it done. they ship them with some residual gas in the carbs that will be powder by now. it will plug the jets and cause the sled to run like crap or not run at all. otherwise go enjoy your sled.

You'll want to probably work on some clutching later on. The sled over revs quite a bit. I'll have to look at my notes to check on the target RPM's, but you can throw some heavier rivets in. It'll make the sled scoot better. I've the the same sled but with pipes and love it. I get alot of crap from others for having a smaller sled, but in the end I keep up with them no problem. Drive it and have fun.

he cleaned the carbs prior to me taking delivery and i ran stabil thru it then ran it out of gas to sit the summer so hopefully i'll be good to go....... thanks

when you say the sled over revs, do you mean past a "red line " value foe the motor or it just spools up quick? i just picked up a maintanence manual for it from my dealer and haven't had a chance to look thru it yet. thanks for the info....

The sled rev's past the power band. If I remember right my sled stock revved to 9100 RPM WOT. Your target RPM for that sled should be 8400 RPM's (Just off my memory). Hopefully others will chime in. Look in the Tech pages and search the forums for clutch set ups. My advice for the first things to do to that sled would be studding it (I did 144 and it hooked great), and put some adjustable transfer rods on it. Then ride it for a season then think about what you'd like to do to it.

thanks for the info on the revs. i probably won't stud the track, i ride northern illinois and south wi, and when snow is low my friends with studs seem tear out a lot and i don't need that pain. i'll ride it soon i hope and see how it all runs. by the way, my mint 94' phazer is originally from hackers yammy up there in houghton. still has the sticker from them on top of the tail light... thanks again

yeah i guess it was hackers of houghton lake..... by the way, i'm looking for the estimated horsepower of the stock sx 600 triple. all i can find is diplacement and c.c.'s and the such. any guess as to how much it is putting out? i was curious cuase cat puts that info in their literature....
thanks
