is the track off the ground (back of sled supported by stand) when you are hitting the brakes hard and hearing the clunk? side to side play i think is around .080".
Have you checked your drive chain tension? Too loose condition could be what your seeing as excessive play in the secondary and a direct result is the noise you hear when you lock up the brakes.
i checked my chain tention but im not a 100% on wat it should be cause ive got a few diffrent ansers on how to tightin it but how do u guys sugest i do it ( ps sorry for the spelling mistakes)
Tight
The Yamaha repair book states to finger tighten. I just did mine that way...

1-2mm in the secondary is the norm.speerssrx said:how much side to side play should there be on the secondary clutch of my 2000 sx-r 600 and also if im going slow (5-10 km) and hit the breaks hard there its a clunk sound comeing from the secondary wat could this be?
the clunk could be loose chain or track, finger tight on the chain adjuster

just turn it in until you feel tension on the chain, just snug in my book. Check the oil in there too, if its not been done drain it and put in new.
