1973 Paint Code

Ha ha ha ha. Sorry, I'm just laughing because you are not alone in that quest. Someone on here told me that the 2002 dakota silver is close enough. I finally gave up looking and decided to go ahead and use Ford 2008 bright silver. I sandblasted it all off and sprayed it, and when I took the masking tape off was shocked to find how close it was! Good luck on your resto. G.

I just realized something else too. The 73's were not silver tunnels, they were white! Perhaps you're not dealing with a 73? G.

I thought it was a 73-74, but I must be wrong. But it does have a silver tunnel and it is a GP 292 and it has a round head light and a red seat.

You could alway trailer the sled to your local paint supply shop and have it scanned...I did this with my '73.

What you are describing is a 72. That was the only year for the round headlight GP 292. If you're doing a faithful restoration, then you could have it scanned, though you'd probably have to find a patch of paint that it is not faded somewhere. Other than that, really, the paint that I used is scary close and looks great. I also used a two part plastic paint called Endura for durability. Good luck. G.

We are doing a full resto on this thing. it's already in great shape, I found Dupont paint code #951 k which is a gm wheel paint looks like an exact match. thanks for you reply Ron.
