Guys....was sitting in the rec room tonite loading 5 primary clutches for testing & had a revelation. I have a set of 70 gram 1 piece hc,s i am gonna test in my turbo rx-1 & was gonna do a lock & load. Anyway...after bolting em in I noticed at full shift the tip of the weight does not contact the roller when the primary is at full shift.. No probs with the 2 speeds & the drag n flies but the 1 piece weights fell short of full shift on the primary. To fix this just grind away some material from the moveable shive until you see the weight has good conatact with the rollers at full shift(closed position). Just something to check!!!!!

Does this go for all gen H-C weights Turk? How should I go about checking to see if mine is doing this?Remove the spring and close the sheaves together and check the weight/roller contact?

Check 2 things(1 piece hc,s)
weight to roller contact at full shift. larger rollers(15.6 mm or larger) will probably not be affected as much
Check the wear along the top of the weight. Your looking to see if there is a big difference of wear towards the tip of the weight.
I tested the drag n flies & 2 speeds & they had no issues with smaller rollers.
The 1 piece weights did.

Isn't that one of the most fun things in snowmobiling? That spring was developed as a manliness test. The real studs just squeeze it back together with their thumb and index finger. Sadly I've got a long way to go before I reach stud status.
Good info for the guys having speed issues with them.

Lol...Same here.. I am comfortable using my 2x4 under the trailing arm and sitting on it to compress... I feel like a real man just to get that thing back together... lol Actually it's not that bad after you do it a few times... but it's a long way from squeezing it together by hand...I always plan to make a compressor, but keep telling myself this is the last time I will need to get it open for awhile.. I just had it apart last week putting a new spring in and now Turk has to come up with this.. Who knew...

Well Well Well.. I checked mine tonight and found one of the three does not make contact when all the way closed. It is hitting on the little nub in the casting. Here are some pics before I fix it. Thanks again Turk!!!

If you have the cash (around 60, get the goodwin perf tool) Best investment I have made in years

I found out the same problem a few years ago speed running my stocker with those weights. It dosen't take much to grind them.I used a dremel tool.
