Has anyone tried to add traditional studs to these tracks. I have a 2001 SRX 700 and I installed an Ice Ripper last year. I need more traction so I was thinking of adding some pics. I was wondering if anyone tried this before and if so what length and how did they work. I believe this track has a 1.063 padlle on it.

so do those little stud-ettes actually do anything?

My ripsaw has the holes to add those little pics, but wont bother if they're useless.

I guess on pure ice, they'd help a bit?

The studettes are good for shit, really, i'm probably going to get ripped apart for saying that but i wasn't impressed at all. On bare ice there is a slight advantage but still not worth the extra 150$ or whatever it is just for the little picks.

I think the track is perfect for someone that really doesn't ride in conditions very often that require studs. It does exactly what it was intended to plus less weight. Keeps the sled from breaking loose in those icy corners. Camoplast has never claimed that it was a direct replacement to studs. If you run lakes often, forget about it.

Even on icey corners though there wasn't much of a noticeable difference between a standard ripsaw. Have a regular ripsaw on my SRX and HAD the ice ripper on my REV 800. Better off with the regular ripsaw or a "non finger" track with picks in my opinion. ripsaws a fairly good trail track for being unstudded but forget about it in the powder.

I'm not real impressed with mine either. I think it is a good track for the trail rider and less aggressive lake rider but I need more. Does anyone know why your not supposed to add studs to this track? I did try and send an email to camoplast but got a message back that the rep was on holidays!

I liked mine. It really didn't pay anymore than you would for any track and I found that it helps on very icy conditions. If I was planning on studding I would not have gotten this track. It definatly does not replace regualar studs but it is better on ice than a non-studded track without the picks.

Not a fan of mine, thats why I am hopefully switching to something new within the next 3 weeks. Come on money tree grow!!!!

I believe it is a single ply track but lots of Camoplasts track are now and they can be studded, I think? Actually I think my track is an Ice Attack almost identical to the Ice Ripper

Haha mines actually a plastic money tree. I usually put it in my wallet and man does that thing grow every month,
