Well guys,

Last year I purchased two new Ultimax 3 belts. Both of which were for my srx. One being used ASAP, and the second a spare. So I put one on and did two trips no problems what so ever, The third trip I went out for a day alone. Knowing it wasn't a great Idea to sled alone I took it easy all day. Haven't seen many sleds all day. So here I am doing my thing down a long straight away on the lake. Next thing I know my belt blows up. I was just on my way back to my truck and trailer, About 20km away. So I quickly get my new belt on. It seemed really tight but I just figured it was b/c I had the track on the ground, and I couldn't turn the clutch to allow the belt to slide in. So I get it in and hurry to my truck, as it was getting dark.

So The belt was squeeling quite a bit, I figured the belt deflection was off knowing the prior belt had some miles on it when I set it. So I make my way to the truck after a quick stop at the club house for a washroom break. I come out and start the sled it nearly took off on me. So I saddled up and got to the truck in no time. So the season was getting late, and I just tossed the sled in the storage trailer, and forgot about it. So this past week I've been working a ton on the sled. I do the normal clean up and maintenance. Clean the clutches in the DW, and all. I decided it was time to rip apart the Primary completely, As I wanted to do some more work to it. As I took it apart I realized VARIOUS heat cracks forming at the lower points of the sheaves. Along with some crazy burned belt. I noticed the cracks after I tookthe layer of rubber off.

I looked at the belt number thinking it was a little too short, and I got the wrong damn belt! It's a ski-doo ultimax 3 belt. So now I'm just pissed, I need to replace my primary, and two new belts. I call Royal but they close earier than I happen to finish work. So Yesterday I sent an email to them, Stating that they mixed up belts, and now it's going to cost me a hell of a lot more than just replacing the belts. What the heck? So I sent a very mellow email stating for them to call me as soon as they get the message. I would like to hear their thoughts on this. I would at least hope them to replace the belt that is from a doo. like the numbers are close, so I understand the mix up, But hell! Common!

If you were royal what would you do to make things right?

Just to clarify, There were no cracks at the beginning of the season went I tore it appart and washed in my my DW.

What would you do if you were Royal? That's a tough call being it's been so long that the order was received but they are a big enough company that they should at least replace the belt once you send the other one back.I'm sure there's some kind of policy in place for this but I would think it would depend who you managed to get in touch with and what kind of a day they are having as to what kind of satisfaction you'll have.

Yeah, That's what i was thinking. It has been some time, But I still have the belts. Not that I'm going to be buying them again! I will only run Yamaha 8dn belts now!

I probably would send you at least ONE BELT.... The clutches crack on their own (another YAMAHA BRAINSTORM IDEA AND CHEAP METALS) so the belt MAYBE did help it along,,,but,,you cannot blame the belt for the cracks !!! JAPAN has been SCREWING customers with LESS THAN STANDARD metals for about 50 years!!!!! China does the same crap!!! As far as your belt goes,,, BUY THE YAMAHA BELTS!!! RICHIRICH gives GREAT DEALS ON BELTS SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR and CB performance (bruce) also gives great deals!!!

Oh yeah, I will be purchasing two belts from Bruce very soon!

well here is my little story.I bought 4-7.5" rear wheels from Royal 2 summers ago. They are the Yamaha wheels from back in 1980 or somewhere close. Also bought over-sized idler wheels to and this for my SRX.I put these same wheels on my SXR 600 the year previous to this yet and had no issue's.But it didn't take long early last season and the first thing that happened was that the rubber came off one rear wheel.I thought that was strange and it happened to be the third wheel in the rear.So I was pissed that I had to dismantle the rear axle, spacers ,in order to remove that wheel.I mixed some epoxy and glued that rubber back on to the wheel and it is holding today yet.But shortly after that rubber came off,I was doing a run along the ditch..doing about 80 mph and I hear a weird sound from the back and a wobble .I slowed down easy, thought my track ripped or something.Looked down and saw that nearly half the rear wheel and the rubber missing on the first rear wheel on the left side(clutch side.) Now I was really pissed and drove home slowly.Again I had to remove the axle, spacers and wheels and put on the stock wheels again for the rest of that season.
I decided to e-mail Royal and tell them I had 2 defective wheels and wasn't happy about it.I NEVER EVER heard from them.I should of just sent them back and demanded new ones. But never pursued it.I thought that was not good of them not to respond to me.
And the ones on my 600 are still good till this day..go figure. So I decided to order 2 new rear wheels again and installed the 4 7.5 rear wheels back on the SRX.Not an easy task to install them along with the spacers and so on.Think I had the damn axle out 3-4 times in order to get the spacers the right length.Hope this season they all hold or I will be pushing the issue with them.
Good luck with the belts.Go with OEM belts because I bought an Ultimax- 3 belt for my SXR,broke it in properly and then shredded the belt real good and dented the footwell big time when it went.I will never use them belts again.Oh yeah, also took out my speedo-cable which also cost me $65 to fix. 8DN belts all the way and I then ordered 4 of them from rich.

Yamaha belt's are all I will ever run. I have yet to have one come apart on me. Yes I have torn teeth off of them before but never have I had one come completely apart.

my buddy order right and left torsion springs for his polaris we where planning a trip and the day before one broke. ROYAL sent him 2 right hand springs. and it was the left that broke so he was screwed and it was a pain for him to get it sorted out.

Use Yamaha belts! The others are crap! I put 7000 k's on my 06 Attak on the original belt! Same with my mountain SRX! My 93 750 won't beat a formula 3 600 with after market belts, with the Yamaha belt it'll run with just about anything! Lesson learned. G.

Bluemonster1 I can sympathize with you on broken Dayco belt and speedo cable issue,I had an Ultimax 3 blow out on me taking my speedo cable and my first gen Heel clickers with it.That was an expensive lesson learned!!!!
I always use 8DN belts and have had great luck with them although my bud with an 01 SRX runs the new Ultimax XS belts and he likes them. :dunno:

I have had pretty good luck with ultimax 3 belts. Most of them have lasted me 2+ years, But 8DN's all the way now!

Oh and I spoke with a gentleman from Royal, and they are going to give me a belt to replace the one that was wrong. Although I purchased them 4 years ago! Man, I swore it was last year or the year prior! Iunno. I will use it as a spare.
