Hey guys,
I'm looking at a 1999 Arctic Cat 600 triple for my youngest brother. (19 years old) He can't afford a decent Yami, as resale is high. Good ole' Yami's!

This 600 has 5800 miles on it. Asking $2600 Canadian. chain case and suspension bearings have been done, no engine work. New track with 144 studs. rebuilt shocks.

MY bro has a firm $2400 to spend. Thoughts?

sleds are alot more in canada sucks, but I would say that sled is worth abotu $2000. We just picked up a 2002 polaris classic with 7000miles in mint condition looks new, all it needed is a battery paid $2000can.

shame...shame crewchief trying to sell your yamaha sled on this site...lol
Akrievins your brother should really seriously consider crewcheifs sled...I followed the thread for the entire build and this would be money much better spent then the cat.
It is in his price range as well....come on make a deal.

Got my 1999 SRX 700 for $1800 they were asking $2500 deals are out there.

YEAH I DEFINITELY WOULD BUY A SKI-DOO BEFORE A CAT, ESP. AN OLDER CAT. THERE ARE A LOT OF VIPERS ON EBAY RIGHT NOW, AND EVEN A COUPLE 2002 srx'S, THE ONES WITH DCS! TAKE YOUR TIME AND FIND THE RIGHT BUY, JUST MY 2 CENTS.

go to White Star Auction's you can look at what used sleds are bringing at the auctions. Your price of 2,600 is very high. We saw a huge lot full of 2005 570 z's go for under 2,000. The auction is in Bronson Michigan. maybe it would be worth a trip in Dec. to pick up a good sled, Many Yamaha SRX's are being sold.

A friend of mine used to have a '98 zrt 600. the thing had triple pipes on it and was always a good runner, pretty fast too. I was amazed that we were ski tip to ski tip when i raced him with my SRX 600 with airbox and clutch work. It used alot more gas than my SRX, he would be runnin on fumes and i would be between like half and a quarter tank. Worked good for him but i think the Cat triples are kind of notorious in my eyes, so take it for what its worth.

the buyer is from Canada and allthough many of these suggestions are great by the time you convert the US to Canadian dollars and pay border taxes he will be way out of his price range. For a total of $2600 he could only pay a maximum of $1300US.

Oh- OK... didn't see that

I don't know how many is too many, but my 02 Viper(new in 03) got approx. 25,000 klm's without a rebuild and it still runs pretty strong.Broke a jack shaft late last winter, only time it hasn't made it home.

hey

Yeah I'd stay away from the Arctic Cat with that milage...you'd be looking at rebuilding the crank and piston's ring....ect.. buy a good used yami for sure....If not a yami a skidoo twin probably :letitsnow

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies. The A/C seller said there's someone else coming to take a look at the sled as well this Sunday. I don't want to get in a bidding war, so I offered $2000 if the other guy doesn't buy it. We're still keeping our options open.

Crewchief, I took a look at that build, and forwarded all of this info to my bro.
Where is the sled located and how far away are you from us. We're in Mississauga, ON. Looks like you put a great deal of time into that sled.

It's crazy how sleds are so much cheaper in the US. I bought my 2003 Viper two years ago from a guy in Michigan. He drove 6 hours to deliver it to my drive way for $4000US. With exchange, fees, duty, taxes, it ended up costsing me about $5200 Canadian. The sled had 800 kms on it only, so it was a good deal in Canada.

I consider 8000-10,000kms pretty high... maybe it's just me. I feel that when it gets to this point, you need to start replacing/repairing things.. maybe not the motor, but bearings, shocks, etc.

We'll keep looking. If you know anyone selling a 500-700cc sled with Reverse, and about 4000miles shout out!
