I just picked up a 1982 Bravo for my 10 year old to start learning with. I want to go through the suspension/skid. Not sure how much travel the suspension should have and not sure how stiff it should be. It seems very stiff, very little travel. The skid looks basic. Torsion springs and a shock. Looking for any information on skid removal, skid/suspension maintenance, and any general information on the rear skid/suspension for the Bravo ie how much travel, how firm etc. I'd prefer doing the work myself, just looking for a bench mark to reference and hoping someone on this site can offer up some insite. Thanks!!

i think that is max 6" travel. should be more like 4" if memory serves. just set the wear blocks on the torsion springs on sof and it should be as good as it gets. skid comes out pretty easy as it only has 4 bolts. check bushings and shafts the same as your attack. the easy way to put it back in if memory serves is to leave the torsion springs off the blocks, mount it in place and then use a large prybar to put the springs back onto the blocks. remeber to slack the track tension.

Thanks for the info!!! I am going to take the skid right out to give it the once over. It looks pretty easy like you said. I love how the skids drop out on these Yam's...

Do you know where a guy can get parts for the Bravo skid? I popped it out this morning and I definitely need some parts. Axles rusted and pitted, crack in the front swing arm assembly. Do you know if any of the other Yam skids interchange? The Bravo is an 82. Thanks!

you might have to confirm this in the yamaha parts fiche on the ty main page but i think most of the old enticer parts are the same. all depends if it has the odball 108"track or it was the transporter model (we had this in canada) with the 116" track. how bad is the crack? might be weldable. post a pick of the arm. the shafts might be availible from kimpex or someone other than yamaha. worse comes to worse just make them yourself.

I stopped by the local Yam dealer. Some of the parts are avaibable so I ordered what I could. The Bravo model is BR250F. When looking at the skid in the old owners manual and comparing it to what is actually on the machine I am left scratching my head. Owners manual and fiche don't match up well however the actual skid and fiche seem to match up for the most part. My skid seems to have the "additional wheel kit" on it which is at the front of the skid behind the bend in the hyfax. In stock form looks like there is a set of wheels towards the back of the slide. Actually this one has them however the bolts and spacers are shot on one side. Both where turned up a bit so the wheels actually didn't come in contact with the track. One of the bolts was so bent in the spacer I had to cut it off which wrecked the spacer. The Fiche says this particular spacer is no longer made. Once I get the parts in that I was able to order and I get them on the skid I will post pictures of the parts that I will need to replace that where not available from Yam. I would really appreciate it if you drop back to this post and give me your two cents... Thanks!

Maim - I put the Bravo back together. I was able to get most of the parts needed to spruce up the skid, I had to make a spacer for one of the rear bogies but other than that it is greased up and back in the machine. I adjusted the track tension and took it for a ride in about 6 inches of snow out on our field. Seemed to be working great. When I had my son take it for his first ride I noticed a noise coming from the skid. When I looked at it I noticed that the two crescent shaped guides that are white/made out of some type of hard plastic/hyfax material and are on the top of the suspension at the rear of the skid where making contact with the track clips. Not bad but I can definitely hear the clips "clacking" clacking over these guides. Is this normal or do I have something out of adjustment?

Also the track clips are pretty worn, they are all still there but in some spots the metal is worn through or thin. Do you know a good source to buy them for replacement? I will run it this winter but this summer will replace the clips to preserve the track...

those guides are supposed to be rounded. sounds like you need to put a new set on. it is normal for them to touch the track. you did set the suspension to softest setting right? with a child running the sled the hitting is normal if it is not set on soft.

as to the track clips, richierich (site sponsor) should be able to hook you up with some clips for that track. if not then any kimpex parts dealer should have them.

Thanks Maim! I set the suspension to the other setting. I assume you are talking about the slide that the torsion springs set in. I set them there because dads might like to drive the Bravo too. I will mess with that though and see if it take care of it. The guides look to be in good shape as compared to the fiche. I am thinking it is because I have the suspension set stiff then... What a fun little machine!!
