Guys,

I have a question that has been n my mind for the last week. I have power inc pipes, with three silencers. Now one of the silencers was empty, and one was 1/8 packed (No packing), And one was 3/4 packed. So I took the heads off a while back to get some more work done to them, So I noticed that the cyl's with now packing in the silencers were rich apposed to the center cyl that was 1/2-3/4 packed.

My center cyl is burning perfect, but the MAG/PTO are both running rich. The mag was the richest and had an empty silencer, and the PTO was a little leaner than the MAG, and was packed about 1/8.

SO....... My question would the lack of packing in my silencers be causing the cyl's to richen up? B/c the exhaust was flowing to great and wasn't allowing the heat to build up in the said cyl???? WHY????

Can anyone help me get this question of my mind. I've since repacked all three silencers, and got the exhaust looking pretty. Pics too come!

that would be the only logical reason in my mind that it varies for each cyl.... take her out with how you got it now with all 3 repacked and take it apart after a few hundred miles to see a difference....

Its all about backpressure....

That's what I was figuring. That would be the onyl reason in my mind. Everything is the same for jetting, 155/45 across the board.

isnt the packing only there to keep the exhaust at a reasonable sound?

What jetting do you have in it right now?

Tom, are you asking? or are you telling me as if your forsure? Packing in there adds backpressure. If it makes a difference with the packing in all 3 then obviously problem solved.

He has the jetting posted!

:worth: of the pipes!

Pipes are in my advatar. They will look very different tomorrow. Much more pretty, and an aluminum ceramic color.

Tom, I have 155/45 jets now, across the board. I can't remember what clip.

And the packing in in there to keep back pressure up, and for the sound.

Believe me the packing makes a HUGE difference. I went on a three day trip last year. And the first two days were awesome, all the guys I ride with loved the sound. By the third day, All the packing was gone. And so was the love, lol! They were ready to kill me!

I was asking.

I thought it was just there to help with noise reduction.

155 main jets? what do your Power INC pipes reccommend?

152.5 main jets is enough fuel for a 780 big bore with stock pipes!!

Did Ian give you jets specs with those pipes when he did your motor?

My motor is Mrviper ported and I am running 150 PTO 148.8 center and mag.

Ian?? Who is Ian? If you're talking about Gerry, and Flavio Iantomasi, they ported my motor About 3-4 years ago. I've been running these pipes only for one season.

Yes, 155 main jets. I was running 152.5 when I was just ported. I was running a tad rich (But 150's were a little lean), So I went to 155 with the pipes. Instead of going up two from 152.5 to 157.5. Although I tried them, and it was too Rich.

try these jets,

PTO 151.3

center and mag 150 150

needles at middle clip with shims on bottom

42.5 pilots

Tom that's going to be WAY lean!

My centre cyl is burning perfect (With packing in the silencer) with 155/45.

this is actually on the safe side for what I reccommend on your set-up so let me know how it goes

Tom,

Before I got my 155, 157.5 and 45's mailed to me I ran 42.5/152.5 (This is what I ran ported, before the pipes). This was lean in the weather I ride in.

I typically ride in -20/-25*C. I've ridden in -44*C For a few nights. So that suggestion you made would have put a hole in my piston at these temps. (Not trying to be rude)

Something is not right.. That is WAY too much jetting for a 700 bore, I dont care who ported the motor or what pipes your running.

It's a 700cc. 69mm bore and 62mm stroke. With almost 9000km on it. The piston wash doesn't lie.
