hey everyone
I'm trying to put a 00' Mountain Max 700 Engine into a 2001 Mountain Max 700 frame. The only problem I have is that the wiring coming from the block and the wiring that's in the frame don't fit. I was wondering if there is something that I could buy to get the two sets of wiring to fit. Or do I have to completely change the magneto? Any help will do. Thanks

thats a good one, they went to the new headlight setup in 01' for the MM's, dual headlight, u might want to look for the harness out of a 2001-2005 to make it all compatible, i think that should be ur only hurdle, good luck!

The easiest thing to do is to change the mag because in 2001 yamaha went to a completely different wiring system. 2000 and earlier half the systems on the sled(lights, handwarmers etc.) ran on Alternating Current and the ignition coils all fired at the same time (each sparking three times per revolution). In 2001 Yamaha revised the entire electrical system, everything is now powered by Direct Current and the ignition coils only fire once per revolution(allowing the coils to fully saturate at higher rpm). If you wanted to upgrade to the 2001 system you would need the entire wiring harness along with new CDI, Regulator, diffent condensers(2) etc.

So is it just going to be waste of time trying to put my 00' engine in the 01' frame? Because it's going to be a lot of work trying to get all of these parts to get the engine to fit. I wish I knew this before I bought the frame!
