We are putting my buddies skid back in his 99 srx 700, we got the suspension under there with the Nice new track...And we put the two front bolts in first, then we tried getting the next two bolts in on the tunnel, but that is hard as hell to get those holes line up, seems like we are fighting that spring along with the twist of the FRA hardcore...are we doing something wrong? i have to push up real hard and then forward and barely get the bolt in.... Is there a certain set of bolts i should be putting in first?

thanks

Joe

my best found way of doing it is a ratchet strap around the center arm there and the rear one and tighten it until you get the hole lined up... it is a pain in the butt tho!

If you loosen the bolts on the end of the controll rods, It will allow you to line the other bolts without to much trouble. Be sure to re-tighten them :dunno:
Also, did you make sure to loosen the rear axle/track tensioner?

Rear axle is out of the sled, will be putting that in when everythings bolted up... i know what your thinkin.... But it made it 20X's easier to get the skid in initially.

By control rods your talking transfer rods? The bolt that Connects the two pieces of the rod?

Front bolts first then lower the tunnel down onto the skid until the rears line up put those bolts in, last move onto the middle ones. Usually best to have a guy on each side to lift it up into position straight with one arm and put the bolt in with the other hand when it gets line up.

Ive never loosened any bolts or anything when i had my pro-action and i could put my skid back in by myself...Could save the hassle and throw the pro action in the trash and buy an Expert X and have it in and out in 5 minutes with 1 guy

Sorry ;):D , yes, Transfer rod. Sounds like your thinking of the right one. Its were the two peices come together and holds the bottom shim(nylon) on.

This is how i do mine, never had much trouble.

easiest do it yourself way is to tip the sled over on its side, pull the track out around 65 degrees from sled body, place skid in track, align front bolts, then push skid into its position in the tunnel and lign up rear bolt holes then center bolts.. This works very well for me so if you run into problems give it a try... good luck it doesnt have to be hard i learned the hard way...lol
