5500 miles well i'd do rings at the very least,no problems with that motor
they run forever very reliable, doing rings now will get back to peak perf.
and efficiency, mic pistons for max wear too,,oh and use OEM parts..

I have about the same on my 98 srx. Still runs strong, But not as strong as it would with new rings. After this season, money permitting of course, I will have a custom BB setup From Iantomasi racing.

I'd do the rings for sure, mine broke a ring at that mileage and costs a lot more to fix. Cheap insurance. Check the pistons 4 wear. If u have 2 replace use OEM, they last the best. U might want 2 consider replaceing the mag side crank seal. Both of my 2 strokes that I took apart at that mileage had that seal pretty much worn out. The output seal/bearing seems 2 last OK. Might want 2 check the clutch side jackshaft and driveshaft bearings. Check the chain for wear. While u have the engine apart do the reed space notch.

Also, What's Your compression numbers like? Have you run a leak down? I think you should be fine for another year or more! What oil do you use?
