We got my buddies Skid all bolted up in the sled (99srx7), got the skid in without the rear axle boggy wheels in ( made it easier to get the skid under the the sled, i figured it would be a PITA to get the wheels in, as the track (even though loose) is pushing against the wheels making it uneven to get the axle lined up to get it through the wheels... are there any tricks to get these wheels on easier? track tension adjuster is backed off all the way...

Thanks!

Joe

You can do it, but it is a pain. Far easier to put the skid in the sled with the rear axle installed. There are numerous post on how to do this and info in the Tech Pages as well.

However for your predicament, I have hooked ratchet straps to the track windows and tightened them up to change a wheel in the field. If you study it a little you can see which windows will work best. The hardest part is getting all of the washers, wheels, and spacers in the right place. Basically the washers go next to the rails, and spacers go against wheels and the inside of the adjusters.
  • Get the track pulled back as much as you can with roughly a 9 inch radius at the back.
  • Put one outer wheel on the bolt.
  • Put an outer spacer on the bolt next.
  • Put a washer on the bolt next.
  • Start the bolt through the rail (right side).
  • Put a washer between the rail and the adjuster and push the bolt through both.
  • Put the next spacer and wheel on the bolt (between the rails).
  • Put the next spacer on the bolt.
  • Push the bolt slightly into the left side adjuster.
  • Place a washer between the adjuster and the left side rail and then press the bolt on through the rail.
  • Put a washer and the other spacer on the bolt.
  • Finally work the last outer wheel onto the bolt and into the track.
  • If all is well and the bolt is pressed all the way in, only half of the threads should extend past the wheel.
  • Place the nut on, and if all is well tighten and then back off slightly for adjusting.
  • Place a cotter pin in the axle bolt and peen over good to allow a socket to fit over it and onto the nut.
  • Adjust track as normal and tighten axle bolt and nut.
Someone else chime in if I missed something.
