I too have a 1997 sx 700 and when i got it i had to pipe and jet it and do a few more mods to it. It sounded great and not a person who heard it thought it was abnoxious. It would turn heads everywhere i went. I just put everything back to stock and believe it or not got way better performance. With that said, i just might go back to the pipe/ "can" again. I miss the sound but not the fuel economy from cracking the throttle all the time to hear it. Enjoy it and have fun.

I have 00 sxr 600 with a snow stuff can and it is vary loud to loud. Hauck hurricane is mild.

You would know if it was a sno-stuff. I ran one for half the season last year and the sold it cause i personally thought it was way to obnoxious. This coming from a guy who's motto is "Loud pipes save lives", that being car, truck, bike, or sled. My buddy has a formula 3 700 triple with dynoport pipes and triple stingers and he said he could still hear me over his pipes!
look up on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2X_mV2S0hg

You would do much better by boring out the original muffler, there used to be something in the tech pages on this. I bought a hole saw at local hardware, a bit extension. Done several, let my buddy try it out and he would'nt give it back.

I thought about that, but I didn't want to ruin my original, (no way to go back to stock). so far I can't see a difference in performance, and I think it sounds good. I'm planning a trip over christmas break, I plan on bringing my original, just in case I start to hate the sound, but so far it's good.
